Dr. Michelle Lugones recently joined SMVH. She studied film and television production at New York University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in 1997. After working in the industry for a few years, she decided to return to school to pursue her lifelong career goal of becoming a veterinarian. After graduating with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 2008, Dr. Lugones completed an intensive, rotating internship at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, New York.

Dr. Lugones' veterinary interests include pain management, surgery, and exotic animal medicine. Personal interests include watching movies, studying foreign languages, traveling, and enjoying all that New York City has to offer. She lives in New York City with her husband and her cat, Gustaf.
