Nala
Nala is a 3 year old ferret but we wonder how she's made it this far! Although as ferret owners we know the importance of ferret-proofing everything harmful in the path of a ferret's inquisitive nature, this has not stopped Nala from occasionally outsmarting her parents with her Houdini escapades. Once, when she was barely one -year old coming home from a playdate, she slipped out of a supposedly secure carrying bag by working 2 zippers. Unfortunately she did this on an elevator in a very large lower Manhattan parking ramp elevator ! Once her parents and their best friend realized Nala was gone, a frantic search of the parking ramp ensued. Miraculously, we found her. Nala had made her way off the elevator back down on the ground floor and was greeting several pairs of shoes of a group of people. Besides being an escape artist, Nala is an extremely social and "clingy" ferret... her need to be with people and receive their attention is obvious all the time, and fortunately in this case her attraction to people helped her be found. When not escaping, Nala can be found rearranging her excessive toy collection, unrolling toiletpaper rolls, lounging in her parents bed or any other of her many nap hideouts, or most often in the arms of those willing to pet her
