'Eliah Persephone'

Eliah came to me in a dream.

Six weeks earlier i had lost my beloved persephone - four days short of her 9th birthday. She had vague symptoms that something was wrong for several months which escalated very quickly in her last two weeks.

This was the greatest loss for me. She was my 'anam cara' (soul mate) in the animal world and best friend, sister, mother figure and mentor to my other italian greyhound gianna and her kitty pals- giovanni and ciarra. After her passing- we all prayed each day for a sign as to when it may be right to consider bringing another soul into our home. we were all lost without her.

One saturday morning i awoke from a dream of three dogs in a small white bed — they were persephone, gianna and a little coffee colored puppy. Well surely this was a sign if ever i saw one.

I called a local breeder of IG's to inquire if she had any puppy's- and lo and behold she explained that she had just had two litters the previous week and described one of the females exactly as i had seen her.

I met her at two weeks old- a little sausage of fur with barely recognizable features but i knew at once that it was she. A month later we met again and this time saw in each others eyes the connection that was divinely arranged. Coming home and quieting my mind it was told to me— her name is Eliah- an angel's name- El- of God. She became Eliah Persephone- of god and persephone. At nine weeks she was reunited for the first time with her buddies who of course didn't recognize her but she quickly went about telling them the whole story whilst they all huddled together in the corner. Her enthusiasm for life- her uncompromising love and deep sensitivity won out and we are a family again. Not a day goes by that i do not miss my baby. She comes to us in many ways as she travels in light and love. We are all the richer for having been blessed with knowing her and her presence and love remain forever in our hearts.
