Banshee
My name is Banshee. I live on the border of the LES, Bowery and the
East Village with my roommate who in my three short years has moved
me from Wicker Park in Chicago to the Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles
to our latest home here in NYC. I'm easy going. As long as there are pigs' ears to eat, my roommate to walk with, and a bathtub to sleep
in, I'm happy. Actually, I'm happy regardless.
I love people, dogs, cats and birds. I mean it. Yes, I've chased the
odd squirrel, coyote or pigeon but I recognize all domesticated pets as my friends, even after they bite, peck or scratch me lovingly
across my snout. I love to swim and do anything involved with water. My best day ever was probably a day in the Pacific when I discovered
a dead seal. I rode it in the waves inhaling its beautiful aroma
until my ride-home (and major buzz kill) dragged me from my find.
I'm not overly motivated by food. If I'm not hungry, I'm not hungry and no amount of steak will convince me otherwise. When I'm feeling peckish, I prefer shrimp, cheese, pigs' ears, white fish, greenies, carrots, green beans, chicken, beef and yogurt, in that order. If you insist that I eat "dog food", be certain to mix it with any of the
above, otherwise I'm content to wait until the next trip to the dog park to fill up on sticks and woodchips.
I'm often called a "good dog" usually after sitting, hi-fiving, taking-a-bow, shutting a cupboard, touching something with my nose, speaking, speaking quietly and (humiliatingly) for "doing my business," all on command. That said, I've had my share of issues,
such as picking up adorable dogs in soft sweaters and attempting to bring them home with me, not knowing my own strength when playing with smaller dogs and jumping up to greet people. I worked hard to cure these afflictions. I can now walk by the cutest Chihuahua in the
softest mohair turtleneck and simply say hello. I roll over on my back growling and moving all my limbs when playing with smaller dogs
instead of "tapping" them on the back until they cry, and I found
that picking up my favorite plush-toy and walking around with it proudly on display is a suitable way to show my enthusiasm for visitors.
I'm proud to be a healthy patient of Dr. Haddocks and plan to be
around for a long time.
